Game 113: Mets vs. Braves @ Shea Stadium
After dominating the Braves in his previous three starts against them, Oliver Perez takes the mound looking for another win.
The Good: The Mets scored some runs but it was not nearly enough. In the fifth, the offensive highlight for the Mets came on a Dave Newhan pinch-hit single that scored Lastings Milledge. Reyes then grounded out to score Newhan (he has been good since being called up). Schoeneweis, Mota, and Feliciano all pitched well while the Mets trailed.
The Bad: Oliver Perez gave up as many bloops as I've ever seen and was in a 6-run hole before he knew it. Francoeur absolutely killed us tonight.
Overall: Bad way to start a series against Atlanta; can't come out lackadaisical in a game like this.
2 Cents: Why would you throw Matt Diaz a first-pitch fastball? How many times before you learn? If Moises Alou grounds into another double play in a key situation...Yunel Escobar is good at baseball.
Final Score: Mets, 3Braves 7. Record: 63-49.
