Game 68: Mets vs. Twins @ Shea Stadium
John Maine seeks to regain his early-season form in tonights series opener vs. Minnesota.
The Good: John Maine was great tonight as he pitched 7+ innings for his seventh win of the season. Carlos Delgado hit his eleventh homer and Ricky Ledee collected a two out rbi to put the Mets ahead early on. With the bases loaded in the sixth inning, Paul Lo Duca would get the first clutch hit by the Mets in what seemed like ages. The Mets would go up 4-0 on his two rbi single and would never look back. In the eighth inning Ricky Ledee would step to the plate and crush a home run to deep right center field. Carlos Beltran (double), David Wright (double), and Carlos Gomez (sac fly) would all tack on to the score and the Mets had scored eight runs just like that.
The Bad: After the Mets recent play, there are absolutely no complaints.
Overall: For one night at least, the Mets played up to their potential.
Notes: Jose Reyes added to his stolen base lead by swiping his 39th bag tonight.
Final Score: Mets 8, Twins 1. Record: 39-30.
