Game 37: Mets vs. Cubs @ Shea Stadium
Fresh off a great matchup vs. Milwaukee, the Mets continue battling the NL Central vs. the Cubs.
The Good: Tom Glavine didn't have his best stuff but battled. The Mets overcame a 4-0 deficit. A D. Wright two-run homer barely over the right field wall, a clutch double down the left field line for Paul LoDuca, and a clutch Damion Easley sac fly scored the four Met runs. Damion Easley also had a nice pick in the 8th inning. Reyes stole two bases, his 22nd and 23rd, respectively, and the bullpen was great. With two outs in the 9th, Jose Reyes singled to center field and stole second on a pitchout. Wright followed with a walk, Beltran was pitched around, and Delgado fought through a ten-pitch at bat for a walkoff walk.
The Bad: A day after I praised the Met outfield, their shotty play put the Mets in a four run hole. Glavine didn't get the win.
Overall: A great comeback win vaults the Mets back into first place.
Fnal Score: Mets 5, Cubs 4. Record: 24-13.
