Game 39: Mets vs. Cubs @ Shea Stadium
Trying to fight through the rain, the Mets look for the lead in the series.
The Good: Jorge Sosa had another great outing, pitching seven-plus innings of shutout ball. Once again, the bullpen allowed his runners to score. Damion Easley hit yet another home run while David Wright's hot bat remains productive. He also stole his eighth base of the year, not having been thrown out yet. Carlos Delgado also swiped his first stolen base in five years on the back end of a double steal with Carlos Beltran. Everyone in the lineup seems to have contributed in tonight's win. Carlos Gomez also collected two hits, and it would have been three had he not been robbed on a great play by Aramis Ramirez. Gomez collected the first rbi of his career.
The Bad: Jose Reyes left the game in the eighth inning with what appeared to be a tight hamstring. He was removed immediately and is listed as day-to-day. Without Reyes, the Mets are not the same team.
Overall: After more than a three hour wait, it's good for the Mets to pull this one out and jump back into first place.
Notes: The Mets became the first team in Major League history to start three "Carlos'" in a lineup.
Final Score: Mets 8, Cubs 1. Record: 25-14.
