Game 56: Mets vs. Phillies @ Shea Stadium

In the battle of old foes, literally, Tom Glavine looks for a Met win against Jamie Moyer.

The Good: Tom Glavine would pitch six solid innings. He would pitch well enough to win but did not receive enough run support. The Mets would score two runs in the second on a Paul Lo Duca single to center. David Wright also hit the ball well tonight. Damion Easley also got a few hits and walked in tonight's game. In the seventh inning, Jose Reyes would single to right and steal his 31st base. He would promptly get picked off trying to steal third. Carlos Beltran would follow by hitting a fly ball to Pat Burrell in left, forcing him to pin his back against the wall.

The Bad: Tommy Glavine doesn't get win 296 again. Mets choke in the eleventh.

Overall: Tough loss.

Notes: Pedro Feliciano's first home run allowed this season.

Notes: Carlos Beltran returned to the Mets lineup tonight and failed to score some runners. Pat Burrell may have cost the Phillies some runs when he ended up on third at the same time as Chase Utley during the sixth inning. David Wright would run him to the third base bag for the second out of the inning. In the seventh inning, Carlos Delgado would throw out Jimmy Rollins on a pickoff to end the inning.

Final Score: Mets 2, Phillies 4. Record: 35-21.
